If you've seen the movie "Eight Below", you know how loving and loyal Siberian Huskies are. Laika could have been a star in that movie. Laika loves everyone. She is gentle and playful. Laika is hard to resist with her joyful demeanor.and incredibly beautiful smile. She will cuddle real close to you and even give kisses. Laika does have separation anxiety and needs a home where the individuals have experience with both huskies and separation anxiety. Kindly phone or email Corrina, the shelter manager for details on this special gal.
Lucious came to us as a neglected stray. Sadly, he was covered in mange, which has since been treated, and was as skinny as a rail. Now, he is a very different looking boy! We are unsure of his age, but he is not old. He is a strong dog, and does not particularly like cats, but otherwise, he is loving and sweet and deserves a real home with someone who truly cares for him!
Aurora was surrendered to CSA because her owners fell on hard times. She was previously spayed and the owner told us she was about 4 years old. She has a short attention span but seems to be a sweet girl. She was adopted once and returned because they brought in a professional trainer and she is supposedly food aggressive. We have never seen it here but she does have her own run and no threat towards the food in her run.
Dasher is a beautiful and most likely pure bred Husky he was temperament tested and showed no aggression issues. He is a dominant and energetic boy who pulls like a Mac truck but calms down nicely. He would do well in a home with older children but not under 12 years old. Someone with husky experience is recommended. He seems to like the girl dogs but is too dominant for the boys. He didn't care about food and allowed toys to be taken right out of his mouth. Dasher is currently in a kill shelter and in need of rescue. If you would like to meet him please fill out an online application and someone will contact you soon.
Shirley is just 2 years old and a very active dog. She is friendly to people and other dogs. Shirley is outgoing, responsive and attentive. She has the foundation for obedience training, but needs continued work. She is not yet housebroken, but is smart and motivated and should do well with crate training. Shirley will need daily exercise, either a couple of long walks or some running and playing in the yard. We think Shirley will make a great addition to a family who has some time to invest in her training. Please come by to meet this special dog!
Kazar seems to be a Husky or Malamute mix that is about 2 years old; he may be mixed with some type of Hound since he points and tracks. He is very submissive and calm with humans. He is great on lead and walks and jogs at a matching pace to the human at the other end. He is learning basic commands and is very good at come, down, and sit. His foster family has cats and he pretty much ignores them unless they run. He will ignore cats, dogs, birds, and squirrels while on his walks but loves to greet all humans with a big tail wag and will cuddle up to anyone. He is so willing to please and very easy to train that he would make a great first time dog. He is also housebroken. Kazar has a issue with his food when other dogs are near (toys are not a problem); he doesn't want to share so his foster family would like to see him go to a home as either an only dog or with someone who has experience with this behavior. Although Kazar has NO issue with humans taking food out of his mouth or touching his dish his foster family would rather that he go to home without small children. I am a 2 year old Husky / Shepherd mix boy named Kazar that was abandoned. I don't know why the people did that and don't know why some one doesn't want me as I am very sweet and I love people. I also get along with other dogs and even cats. I love riding in a car and have learned to sit and give my paw. I'm also housebroken. I have been neutered, fully vetted and will be driving to new Jersey on November 10th. Will you please fill out an application for me and give me a chance to get that forever and always home that I want ?
Friendly and human-oriented for his breed, Conan likes to meet people, but is still an independant husky. He is about 6 years old and his owners told us he was housebroken. Conan is not happy about any form of restraint, so we recommend an adult home, preferable with previous experience with huskies or similar breeds.
