Members of TOTTSHR, Mapaw and Husky House went to her home and removed the rest of the dogs. In all TOTTSHR took in 9 dogs, Husky House took in 7, MaPaw took in 4, and Delaware Valley took in 1 over the three day period. Three were taken to the Monmouth County SPCA. Scott of Tails of the Tundra writes: We arrived at about 1:30. Representatives from Husky House and MaPaw were also there. In all, there were 16 dogs (not counting the 8 removed on Thursday). We took 9, MaPaw took two and took two more to give to DVSHR. The other three included a GSD, a Sibe with reported behavior issues, and one other Sibe who was going to Monmouth SPCA. This place was a horror show. Like stuff you see on Animal Planet police type shows. The ammonia smell was indescribable. There was a room with 3-4 inches of moldy poop wall to wall. Dogs peed on newspaper everywhere. After a little "snooping" several dozen skeletal remains of cats were discovered on the second floor. Animal controlled was contacted, along with the police who all showed up within about 20 minutes. We hung around to see if they found any other dogs just in case. When we left, the Police were contemplating either arresting the woman or sending her to the psycho ward somewhere. They were talking about condemning the house (which they should do given the conditions). I have no idea yet what happened after we left, but I'm sure we'll hear soon. So, off to the vets. Dr. Nicole was there along with our own Chris and two other vet techs who volunteered their own time to help us out. All of the dogs were given all of their shots, H/W tests (all negative thank God), blood tests. They were all bathed, microchipped and sent home with preventives, wormers, and antibiotics just to be safe. Thanks to everyone for everything today. The list is too long to name everyone. Never has the word "rescue" meant more to me than today.
TOTTSHR took in 9 of the dogs including Frankie, Annie, Willie, Mabel, Penny, Nikki, Maggie, Gus and Disco. After leaving the house and with many thanks to Lehigh Valley Animal Hospital we were able to take these dogs immediately to the vet for a first bathing and initial vet care. Varying in size, the smallest weighed in at 16 lbs (Little Frankie) and the largest weighed 49 lbs.(Nikki). The vet costs for today alone were over $1200 to get them all up-to-date on shots, microchipped, blood work and dewormed. They all still need to be neutered and spayed which will be done soon. Most of the males have undescended testicles and will need a more invasive surgery to neuter them.
