Monday July 21st, 2003 Well, we decided to switch things around last night. One, to give Allyson a shot at a decent night's sleep since she starts her new job bright and early today, and two, I thought part of Drea's wimpering was because there were no other dogs around. Each of our dogs has "their spot" on our bedroom floor at night. Lobo is pretty protective of his, since Nero always tries to steal it when he's in the room. Drea tried to lay in Lobo's spot (Lobo was already there,) and Lobo gave her a little warning growl. Drea found another spot. Everyone settled down and no more noises were heard. Well, lo and behold, when I woke up this morning guess who had "the spot!" Drea follows Lobo around the yard, play bows him, and bops him in the head with her paw. Considering their size difference, it's pretty funny to watch (if she scooches just a little, she can walk under him.) He looks back every once in a while in the yard to see if she's still behind him, but doesn't seem to mind. She also keeps an eye on Aspen and does everything she does. Bandit, she could take or leave (he whines and it freaks her out,) and Nero is still a little much for her. No more accidents in the house after the very first morning (no newspaper needed - she just follows Lobo and goes when he goes,) and she is starting to seek us out in the house (unless we turn and look at her, then she bolts.) We had to catch her to crate her this morning, which I really did not want to have to do, but when biscuits and bologna didn't work we had no choice. She was quiet in her crate (at least until I left,) but had no clue what to do with the flip we gave her. She seemed to like having her crate right between the other dogs. I think when she finds her true personality, she will be a handful, and quite the cuddlebug. |
