Sunday July 20th, 2003 Mabel and her new foster brother and sister are getting along just great. She is a very sweet dog. A little shy still, but that's to be expected. Would rather use the bathroom indoors than out. Although our guys are trying to show how to do her business outside, this is still gonna take some time!!!!!!! She ate quite of bit of food last night after coming home. But today she seems quite comfortable with what's being given to her, and is eating very nicely. Monday July 21st, 2003 Check out Seven of Nine's other webpage! Tuesday July 22nd, 2003 Uh oh! Mabel/ Seven of Nine has come out oh her shell. She's bouncing all around, and playing with Mishka. I have already taken away 3 shoes from her, and that was before 8:30 this morning. Gosh, for a moment there I thought I was going to have Velcro twins. (Chinook & Mabel) Good news is she slept all night in her kennel without crying or howling. Her bowel movements have become solid. And she has had less accidents in the house. Wednesday July 23rd, 2003 Seven is doing quite well. Today she did not take any shoes and start playing with them. She is still trying to figure out what to do with dog toys, as she probably never had any before. She really gravitates towards our male dog Chinook. He has been very gentle with her. She sleeps next to him in her kennel at night. She is also teaching Mishka that she doesn't tolerate rough play. She will just lay there until Mishka brings it down a notch or two. She would prefer to play on with Chinook, but of course, in your face Mishka always plunges in for a good romp. This girl really loves to cuddle. She cuddles with Chinook and myself. She is also quite playful. She loves to jump into my chair before I sit down so that she can sit with me. (She likes this game) Surprisingly enough she walks pretty well on a leash, even though before last Saturday she had never been on one. She loves her walk in the woods everyday with my guys. Her temperament is fantastic! She gets along with my guys just great, and has no aggression whatsoever with food or toys. She is quite easy to handle. She's also great with kids. She is the cutest thing, and the pictures of her really don't do her justice. She will make some lucky person or family a wonderful companion/ pet :-) Thursday July 24th, 2003 Well, I think we may have a Mishka in the making. Argggggg. But she's young enough to calm down and work with. (wishful thinking) She was very very very playful today. Pottied outside all day. Except for one time and that was a few minutes ago. Our fault. She pooped by the front door. Friday July 25th, 2003 Seven
is acting more and more like a siberian puppy everyday. She is learning
what toys are, and to play with them instead of shoes or vacuum cleaner
attachments. BTW, she loves her kong. There is Mishka has taught her the fine art of couch and chair jumping. She is all over the house now exploring on her own. She finds it very enjoyable to run up the stairs and jump on our bed. Then wait for us to come up and find out what she is doing. Her tail starts wagging a mile a minute. She finds the cat very intriguing. She enjoys barking at him. (Something else Mishka has taught her. But Taz is a dog aggressive cat and can handle it.) Today we take off for the beach, where 7 will be baptized into interacting with kids of all ages, and all sorts of different people at the campground. Monday August 4th, 2003 Hi. It's me Seven. Things are really fun here at my foster home. I really like my foster brother and sister. My foster sister (Mishka) likes to play all the time, so she keeps me pretty busy. I sometimes would prefer to play with my foster brother (Chinook), as he is much gentler than Mishka. My foster mom and dad are teaching me to play with my toys instead of mom's slippers and coasters, and various other things they leave laying around the for me to chew on. When I'm caught chewing on something I shouldn't they give me a toy with a treat in it. I have to tell you this is so much better than the what I had been playing with before.
My foster mom and dad are really proud of me. I have been going potty
outside for the past few days with no accidents in the I am becoming quite curvaceous and muscular. This is all due to the fact the my foster dad takes me on long walks a couple of times day. My coat also looks marvelous darling. There is one complaint I do have. Almost everyday, a young man comes over, grabs a bite to eat, washes a load of dirty clothes, and then starts grooming my tail. Why is he doing this???? I like my tail the way it is. So what if it gets a little nappy. Why can't he just leave it alone!!!!!!!!! Right now my foster dad is cleaning out my kennel. You see, I like to take my foster mom and dad's clothes and put them in my kennel. I like to have something of theirs in my kennel at all times, it just makes me feel better about spending time in my kennel. It is also a very fun game. :-) Tuesday August 26th, 2003 Hi. It's me Seven. Sorry I haven't written for a while but my foster mom has been on vacation and just got around to taking the dictation for this letter. Should I tell you of my big adventure I had on Monday August 18th? Well... I got up Monday morning and told my foster dad I needed to go outside to pee. I had noticed that Chinook my foster brother was not around. Mishka told me he was in the woods waiting for me up the street. So when my foster dad opened the door, I squeezed between his legs, and away I ran. I ran so fast my foster dad couldn't catch me. He tried for a long time, but I kept running and hiding from him in the woods. Hey! I was looking for Chinook, and I wasn't coming home without him. My foster dad was frantic; and unknown to me, was that Chinook and my foster mom were at the beach on vacation. He made a desperate call to her to come home and bring Chinook back. So my mom got in the car, and her and Chinook drove 3 1/2 hours to come back home to help find me. My mom also had her friend Chris come down and help. Chris is fostering Nikki (he's one of my original brothers from Hazlet) Chris also brought Nikki down to help look for me. Well... finally I heard Chinook and Nikki and came running home. I started howling at the front door. My mom and Chris ran down the street. They were so happy to see me they started to cry. I have to tell you I was very happy to see them too, along with Nikki and Chinook. After that Chris (who is a vet tech) checked me out to make sure I was okay, (which I was). And then Mishka asked Chris to spend the night. You see Chris was Mishka's foster mom before my foster mom and dad adopted her. The next morning my foster mom and me drove back down to the beach. Can you believe she left my boyfriend Chinook at home? The nerve!!!!!!! So not only did I have an adventure, I also got to go on vacation. (I am a very smart dog) I also had a very good time swimming in the bay with my siberian friend Nika, while at the beach. My mom and dad have now christened me "Seven the Sneaky". Remember, in a earlier update she told you to be careful, because I like to sneak out between the legs? Well, I guess my dad is not a good listener :-) I told my dad I was sorry and that I loved him. He said he was worried sick about me the whole time I was gone. And that I am never to do that again. Now I have to wear this red blinking light on my collar, so he can see me in the dark. It's quite large, but neither of them seem to care. They say it is to keep me safe. I think it's a fashion "Faux Pas". Well have to run now. (pun intended) Seven Wednesday August 28th, 2003 Seven is doing quite well. She will "sit" for a treat now, and is learning "down". I have to admit that I waited a month before teaching her any commands. I wanted her to learn how to be a Siberian puppy first. Which she did. She has learned to play with toys, although she won't play tug-of-war with us. This is due to the fact we had to break her of playing with things around the home that weren't toys. So I guess you could say the first command she learned was "drop it"!!!!! :-) Seven is a very good little girl. She is very playful. and is very loving. She also has a great sense of humor. And of course she exhibits the typical attribute of a Sibe, by being very stubborn. Seven knows how to get her way. This is what she does, she acts submissive, until she just where she wants to be. I'm not kidding. She's healing up quite well form her recent spay. When I went to pick her up the next morning she had become the favorite of all the staff. One reason is because she was actually crate trained, and felt safe in her crate. And the other reason is because she puts her cute little ears back wags her tail, and gives you husky kisses. :-* She loves to give kisses, and we love it when she gives us kisses. We have become quite fond of our cute little foster Seven. I know that the rescue makes you sign the contract in ink, but I have to tell you, I might make the adopter sign in blood. Seven will be going to the beach for a week, so we will write when we get back around the 7th. Tuesday September 9th, 2003 Well... We're back from the beach. Seven had a great time swimming in the bay. As usual she always jumps up on me with her little wet muddy paws and thanks me every time I take her for a swim. She's such a charmer. Okay, this dog is totally spoiled. She sleeps on the bed now. And can you say bed HOG? This little girl sleeps like the dead, and sometimes I check to make sure she is breathing. She's totally dead weight!!!!! We give her treats just because she's cute. We give her lots of kisses because she has such a tiny little baby head, and then we give her more treats!!!!! Now I want to tell you a cute story that happened on the day we left for the beach. It was Friday morning. Remember the flashing light we make her wear now? (Well , we also got some for our dogs also.) So... her and Mishka are playing and the next thing I hear is a crunching sound. I look up to see Seven crunching on something. I say to her "What do you have in your mouth Seven? She immediately tries to shut her mouth, except she can't shut it all the way. All I see is this flashing, blinking red light coming out of her mouth. (now her mouth is black so this is a site to behold) She's looking up at me with her cute little face and a sci-fi, blinking mouth. All I can think of is "Terminator the movie". At this point in time I tell her to drop it. The sibe in her comes out full force. She looks up at me and takes off. Fortunately, I get it away from her. Can you imagine what would happen if she swallowed it? Hmmmm. We wouldn't have been able to see Mishka in the dark, but we would have been able to Seven's pooh!!!!!!!!! I guess Seven figured if she couldn't get her blinking light off. she would just take off Mishka's instead.
