RESCUE GROUP TO SPONSOR
"TAILS ON THE TRAILS" DOG HIKE & FESTIVAL
August 10, 2011– Tails of the Tundra, a Siberian Husky rescue group, will hold its ninth annual "Tails On The Trails" Husky Hike and Festival at Warminster Community Park (entrance off Street Road) in Warminster, PA, just 15 minutes from the Route 1 Exit of the PA Turnpike, on Saturday, September 24. Dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes are welcome to participate in the full day of festivities. Details are posted on the Tails of the Tundra website at www.siberescue.com as well as at www.HuskyTailsOnTheTrails.com.
"The event is open to anyone who would like to participate," says Lee Wlodarczyk, event chairperson. "Dog walkers will be offered the choice of two hike distances – one longer and the other shorter – both on well-marked paved trails through the park. We will have all our foster dogs that are available for adoption at the hike, so if anyone does not have a dog to walk, we will be happy to lend you one!"
The hike will be followed by picnic lunch, games and other fun activities. We'll be celebrating AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day and offering fun and informative activities for dogs and their owners. There will also be games and activities for the kids, the Canine Good Citizen test for the dogs, and a silent auction for the adults. Last year's hike attracted over 200 Siberian Huskies, many of which had been adopted from TOTTSHR.
The Pennsylvania Sled Dog Club will also be in attendance with a wheeled cart and several of their lead dogs. Husky owners can hook up their dogs in the "wheel" position behind the leaders and allow them to enjoy the activity for which they are bred. Registration begins at 9:00 AM and the hike begins at 10:00 AM. Registration is $40 the day of the hike, or $25 for anyone who registers before September 16. It includes a hike t-shirt, goodie bag and dog bandana. Full details on how to register in advance can be found on the Tails of the Tundra website at www.siberescue.com. Payment can be made by check or through a PayPal portal on the website.
Tails Of The Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue exists to find loving forever homes for Siberian Huskies and Husky mixes in need of adoption. Since it's founding in April, 2000, the group has assisted well over 1,000 dogs, the vast majority of which are still with the people who adopted them. Anyone wishing to adopt a dog can apply online at the group's website.
