Are
you interested in making a donation of time? Do you live in PA,
NJ, DE, NY, WV, MD, or CT? Do you want to assist the rescue in
our efforts to both educate the public and to help huskies find
their way into new homes? Well, you have come to the right place.
There are many different ways to help Tails of the Tundra Siberian
Husky Rescue Inc. (TOTTSHR). You can either volunteer from home,
head out on the road or get involved in both!
If
you'd like to volunteer from home we have many ways you can help
including checking applications, calling shelters, working on
one of our many websites, writing for the newsletter or even compile
reports for our grants committee.
Like
to travel? We certainly have some opportunities for you including
attending a meet and greet, transporting dogs, or even help out
on an adoption. We of course always need foster homes too! There
are so many different aspects to rescue that you may be surprised
how you can help.
Currently our group has more than 60 volunteers. We remain a very
close group of volunteers despite our distance. Some ask how a
group with so many volunteers spread over a great distance can
run effectively? Well, we do owe a lot of that to the internet.
All of our volunteers keep in touch via a web-based internet group
list. Each day volunteers from different committees post the what,
who, when and where or everything going on in the group. Behind
the group list, runs our different committees who work on varying
aspects of the group. These committees include: Adoption, Applications,
Behavior/Evaluation, Events, Follow-up, Foster, Fundraising, Grants,
Intake, Internet, Legal, Newsletter, Publicity, and Volunteer.
So how do you get started? You can take the first step by our
volunteer application.
Once we receive your volunteer application, one of our members
will contact you to let you know they have started the review
process. If you have any questions along the way, you can feel
free to contact our volunteer coordinator at volunteer@siberescue.com.
Once your application has been reviewed, the volunteer coordinator
will contact you to finalize any paperwork and you will soon be
on your way to becoming a rescue volunteer. Once you become a
volunteer you will be added to our group list and a mentor will
be assigned to you. New volunteers are provided with a mentor
to help them get started. This mentor is someone who has been
involved in rescue and will help to guide the new volunteer with
what area(s) will best match their interests.
We hope to hear from you soon!
