Success Stories: Our Dogs

China found her home with the Halbers on October 18, 2002!

China had spent 10 years with her family, playing with the grandkids and the cats, and had the run of the house. She was queen of the manor and all was bliss, until one day her family took her to a shelter and left her.

Was it her age? The shelter staff estimated her age at 4 years old, not the 10 years her former family told them. Was it her looks? A beautiful gray and white, regal and glorious with sparkling blue eyes full of life.

Whatever the reason, China now found herself in a crowded shelter, with hundreds of other dogs and no place to call home, until TOTTSHR heard of
her plight and sprung her from her prison.

It didn't take long for China to find her forever home with the Halbers in Pennsylvania. They did their homework, and knew a keeper when they saw
her. They adopted China on October 18, named her Tasha, and are giving her a loving home once again—but this time forever. From the moment they fell in love at our booth at the Peddler's Village meet & greet, to the day she made her way into their home, it's as if she was meant to be there.

We want to thank the Halbers for giving this "young puppy at heart" a loving
home and the royal comforts she deserves!

Update from China's new family on 11/12:

"China's original name was Tasha, which she had for nine years before going to the shelter. The romance of a Siberian named like a woman who was an international, vodka-swilling, heart breaker of a Russian heiress in the Roaring 20s was too much to let go. Since she's been responding well to Tasha, her first moniker stays. We are so thrilled with her! It's like she's lived with us forever!

Tasha has lived up to her breed's reputation as "the Houdinis of the dog world." The first week she lived with us, we put her in the basement while we were out - complete with her own couch and television and lots of room to run. We soon discovered, however, that Tasha had other ideas. I came home one day to find her standing at the door waiting to greet me. I assumed Chris had let her out earlier, but when I asked him he said he had not. The following day, Tasha was waiting at the door to greet Chris when he arrived home. It seems our brilliant baby can open the basement door (regular knob) with her mouth! The next day, we moved her crate upstairs to the family room and put her in with the television on to keep her company. When Chris arrived home, there was Tasha waiting at the door! She broke out of the crate. We tried a different crate. She broke out of that crate too! Finally, we bought a super-duper-impenetrable crate and rigged it with bungee cords - guaranteed to work! What do you think Chris found when he arrived at home? There was Tasha, wagging her tail at the door! We can't help but be proud of her cleverness and initiative! Needless to say, she now has full run of the house when we're out.

As you can see from the attached photos, Alex and Jackie adore her and she's a big hit with their friends in the neighborhood too.

Thank you TOTTSHR for allowing the joy of having a husky. We're completely smitten!"

XMas 2002

Good Night Sweet Tasha.

Tasha (China) crossed the bridge on April, 3rd, 2008. As her family wrote, "We were blessed to have 5 1/2 years with her."

Godspeed Tasha, wear your silver harness and light up the skies like you lit up the hearts of the people you touched here.
