Wanted
to send you an update on Takoda. I guess you could call our success
story “Love at First Sight.” As you know, Takoda and
I met at the Tails on the Trails when I stopped by to gauge if
I was ready to adopt again after the death of my beloved previous
husky Katonah.
I
ended up spending almost the entire afternoon with Takoda, and
by the time I left, I knew he was the dog for me - he made me
smile and laugh again!
And my instincts that day were correct - our bond has continued
to deepen as he quickly became part of the family. He is now best
buddies with his feline companions Pogo and Linus, frequently
napping with them on the couch.
He’s the new kid on the block when I take him for walks
around the neighborhood. Well behaved on the leash (even when
he sees a squirrel) and eager to meet the other neighborhood dogs
and residents. Everyone remarks on how beautiful he is and inquires
about his breeding, with his beautiful bi-eyes and sleek black
coat. His coat is the one thing he fooled me on though.
Being
a veteran of four previous huskies and familiar with the amount
of fur they shed, I thought I was on easy street with Takoda.
A short, single coat - minimal shedding, or so I thought. Turns
out he sheds almost as much as my huskies! No problem, just lots
of brushing and vacuuming! And once he’s finished blowing
his coat, things will probably settle down.
We went to the Bark Park yesterday for the first time. I knew
Takoda was fast from playing with him in the
back
yard, but yesterday he really showed off his speed, playing Catch
Me if You Can with the other dogs. He outran them all and thoroughly
enjoyed himself. His antics had everybody laughing.
Thank you for bringing Takoda into my life. He is all I hoped
for!
